As Assistant Vice President, Diversity & Inclusion for L’Oréal USA, Cecilia Nelson is responsible for shaping diversity efforts through innovative initiatives that underscore the company’s commitment to creating an equal opportunity workplace. Working with leadership across divisions and departments at L’Oréal USA, Cecilia educates and promotes diversity processes and procedures to positively impact organizational effectiveness and employee engagement.
As part of this role, Cecilia is responsible for defining and implementing the Diversity & Inclusion Training Strategy; leading L’Oréal USA’s Social-Ethnic Diversity Strategy initiatives, and identifying diversity recruiting programs to foster the recruitment of diverse talent.
Cecilia previously served as Assistant Vice President, Talent Development for the Consumer Products Division at L’Oréal USA. In addition to overseeing recruitment efforts, Cecilia managed the recruitment of recent undergraduates and MBA (candidates to participate in L’Oréal’s summer internship and full-time management development programs.
Prior to joining L’Oréal in 2008, Cecilia served as Vice President, University Relations for JPMorgan Chase (JPMC), where she managed campus recruiting and diversity relationships for the bank. Cecilia started her career with JPMorgan Chase as an Analyst in their Global Services Associate Program. She also served as co-chair of ujima, JPMC’s affinity network for employees of African descent.
Cecilia is an Advisory Board Member of Black Women of Influence, a sisterhood of highly accomplished women who have each been recognized as Trailblazing, Influential Black Women in Business. She also recently served as Executive Board Member for Children of Promise, a Brooklyn-based non-profit organization. Cecilia is a member of The Asia Society Corporate Diversity Council. She holds a bachelor’s degree cum laude in International Marketing from Pace University.
